Local Businesses Mount Up to Help Special Equestrians - Annual "Taste of Love" Fundraiser Supports Operating Costs for Equine Therapy Program
Presenting samples from Southwest Florida's finest restaurants, "Taste of Love 7" is an epicurean delight, featuring live and silent auction items, many of which appeal to the equine set.
FORT MYERS, FL, January 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Southwest Florida businesses have been quick to trot out their wares and their talents in support of Special Equestrians' annual fundraiser - Taste of Love 7. The event features cuisine samplings from some of the area's finest restaurants including Angelina's Ristorante, Sasse's, Gulf Harbour Yacht & Country Club, La Trattoria Cafe Napoli, Bistro 41, Cru, Cafe Matisse and Chef Martin Creative Catering.
Held at The Design Studio by Raymond at 13830 Jetport Commerce Parkway in Fort Myers, the February 21st event will feature music by Cadence Wednesday, cigars compliments of The World Famous Cigar Bar, a silent auction and a live auction presided over by celebrity auctioneer Jay Severson and WINK FM radio personality Gina Birch. The evening begins at 5:00 with complimentary valet parking provided by Frey Valet. Tickets to the event are $100 each.
Additional sponsors are sought, as well as donations for the auctions. Proceeds from this year's event will help to fund the operating costs of the nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic riding to children and adults with disabilities. "Tuition covers 25% of the cost of providing the seven-week program for our riders and many of them are on scholarship," explained Jan Fifer, board president. "That means 75% of the operating costs must be supported by other means. The Taste of Love is a major contributor to our fundraising efforts." Although last year's event netted almost $70,000 for the organization, Fifer acknowledges the effect the downturned economy has had on all nonprofits. "We depend on our local businesses and individual supporters now more than ever," she said.
